2020 Jeep Wrangler | Trims, Price and Performance

The Jeep Wrangler has a long and successful pedigree, with its origins tracing back to the original military Jeep of WW2. The modern versions have been in production since 1986, and the line is now in its fourth generation.
For the year 2020, there are fully 12 versions of the Jeep Wrangler available to buy, but the situation isn't as complicated as it seems.
The range can be divided into five basic trims, with several accessory packages available to add features such as tinted windows, enhanced wheel design, or an upgraded multimedia system.
What are the main differences in features between the Jeep Wrangler trims?
Standard Powertrains
Despite the large number of trim options, the underlying powertrain options are the same for each.
The standard option is a 2.0L I-4 turbocharged engine feeding through an 8-speed automatic transmission to a full four-wheel drive. However, if you're looking for a little more juice, all trims offer a 3.6L V6 engine option, with the choice of either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission.
The different trims build on this base and add options to suit your needs. Here are the main highlights for each, along with the starting price.
Wrangler Sport ($33,490)
This is the base trim, providing exterior features such as front and rear tow hooks, front and rear stabilizer bars, and 17" Black Steel aluminum wheels.
The interior provides a multimedia centre with a 5" touchscreen, a 3.5" vehicle information display, and advanced multistage front and side airbags. Driver assistance features include ABS brakes, electronic stability control, and a back-up camera for easy parking.
Wrangler Sport S ($37,440)
The Sport S model takes the standard Sport and moves it up a comfort level, adding air conditioning, power windows and locks, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote keyless entry, and upgraded 17" Tech Silver aluminum wheels.
Wrangler Black & Tan Edition ($39,435)
The Black & Tan Edition is a special release for 2020, capitalizing on the range's heritage with retro colouring and a premium Sunrider soft top.
Compared to the base Sport, the Black & Tan Edition also upgrades the multimedia system with a 7" screen, adds side steps, and changes the wheels to 17" Granite Crystal polished aluminum fitted with all-terrain tires.
Wrangler Willys Edition ($40,340)
The Willys Edition takes the Wrangler deeper into off-road territory without quite reaching the features or price of the Rubicon trim.
It builds on the Sport by adding LED headlamps and fog lamps, 17" Moab Black aluminum wheels, Rubicon shocks, and a limited slip rear differential.
Wrangler Rubicon ($46,640)
The Rubicon is the top-line off-road version of the Wrangler. It's based on the Sport S, but adds rugged features including:
- Heavy-duty suspension with gas shocks
- High-performance off-road tires.
- Tru-Lok front and rear axles.
- Rock-Trac two-speed transfer case with 4:1 low range.
- Rock protection sill rails.
The Rubicon also marks the top of the Wrangler range with the Unlimited package, which takes the off-road capability and marries it to unmatched interior comfort. The Unlimited Rubicon starts at $49,040.
