2020 Jeep Gladiator | Price, Features and Performance
Posted on February 21, 2020
The last few months have seen much excitement in the truck world, with the resurgent brand Jeep releasing their first pickup in thirty years. The all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator is a mid-sized pickup that has immediately impressed with its combination of performance, features, and affordable value.
As with Jeep's successful Wrangler line, the Gladiator name is a resurrection of an earlier model from the 1960s. However, there's nothing retro about the new Gladiator, which is a totally modern truck with all the features you'd expect - and plenty more.
Could this new arrival be your next pickup? Read our 2020 Jeep Gladiator review to find out.
Engine and Transmission
At launch, the Gladiator will feature the same 3.6L Pentastar V6 as found in the Wrangler range, pushing 285 horsepower to 4x4 drive through either a manual six-speed transmission or an eight-speed automatic. In this configuration, the powertrain will deliver 260lb-ft of torque.
However, arriving a few months into 2020 there'll be the option of a 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine coupled to an automatic transmission. While this engine is set to deliver slightly less horsepower at 260hp, this is more than compensated for by the mighty 442lb-ft of torque it supplies. This powertrain should see the 2020 Gladiator head firmly to the front of the pack for hauling and towing capability.
2020 Jeep Gladiator Capability
But even in its standard launch configuration, the Gladiator doesn't disappoint in capability terms. It's rated for cargo loads of up to 725kg carried in its 1.5m steel bed, and the towing capacity of up to 3,470kg is generous for a workhorse mid-sized pickup of this kind.
Flexible Exterior
One of the most notable features of the Gladiator has also been carried over from the Wrangler range. The four-cabin doors and the roof can be removed to provide an open cabin, and for complete freedom, the windshield can even be folded down. When combined with the truck's impressive powertrain, this is a quirky feature that's certain to appeal to off-road enthusiasts.
Interior Features and Tech
That this new Gladiator is a fully modern vehicle is shown by the level of technology included in the cabin. The Uconnect infotainment system is controlled by a touchscreen of up to 8.4 inches in size and is fully compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
What's more, there's a roof-mounted camera system that can detect obstacles in the blind spot just in front of the hefty grille, ideal for seat-of-the-pants driving on the trail.
Add to this an integrated radar camera to control the automatic emergency braking system and adaptive cruise control, and it's clear that the advanced tech is fully up to the standards of the rugged capability.
2020 Jeep Gladiator Pricing
The all-new Jeep Gladiator has a manufacturer's suggested retail price starting at $47,545 for the entry-level Sport S trim. This rises up to $54,545 for the top-of-the-range Rubicon edition.
